The Girl Who Refuses to Break<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Day 65 – January 27, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been thinking about resilience today. Not the motivational podcast version. Not the kind people slap over a stock photo of a mountain and pretend that counts as wisdom. I mean the real thing. The ugly, private, bone deep kind. The kind that happens when life knocks you flat, steals your sense of safety, rearranges your entire inner world, and you still somehow, rudely, and inconveniently keep going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The past year tried to break me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is not me being dramatic. That is me being accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fear. Violation. The long often humiliating afterlife of surviving something violent. The way trauma keeps trying to collect rent in your body long after the moment itself has passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were days I thought I might collapse under the weight of it. Days where everything in me felt bent so far out of shape I wasn\u2019t sure what would happen if one more thing touched me. Days where strength felt like a rumor other people got to tell about themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But here\u2019s the thing. I didn\u2019t break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I bent, yes. I frayed. I got quieter in some places and sharper in others. I learned things I would have preferred to never know. I lost softness in the places where softness had been too expensive to keep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I did not break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that realization hit me differently today. Not like triumph. Not like some big cinematic victory lap where I stand on a metaphorical cliff and shout my own redemption arc into the wind with incredible hair. Please. I\u2019m not auditioning for an ad campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It hit quieter than that. Like pride. Real pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The kind that lives low in the bones. The kind that doesn\u2019t need witnesses. The kind that simply sits beside you and says, Look at you. You made it this far.<\/em> That kind of pride is almost more intimate than joy. Because joy can be fleeting. Joy can flirt and disappear. Pride, the real kind, stays. It takes notes. It remembers the nights no one saw. The mornings you got up anyway. The way you kept dragging your life forward inch by inch, not because you were inspired, but because some dark, stubborn, gorgeous part of you refused to hand over the ending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think that part of me deserves more credit than I\u2019ve given her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not the soft version. Not the socially acceptable version. The feral little architect of survival who kept building scaffolding inside me while the rest of me was still staring at the wreckage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She\u2019s done excellent work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roger, meanwhile, fell asleep halfway through our evening walk, which meant I ended up carrying him home like a tiny dramatic prince who had simply decided the world was too much for his delicate constitution. Honestly? Relatable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And as ridiculous as that was, there was something weirdly perfect about it too. Me carrying this sleepy little creature through the cold, thinking about all the things I\u2019ve carried this year and all the things that did not, in fact, kill me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes survival is loud. Sometimes it\u2019s a police station. A trembling truth. A body trying not to come apart in public. And sometimes it\u2019s quieter than that. Sometimes it\u2019s just refusing to quit. Refusing to disappear. Refusing to let what happened become the most interesting thing about you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That matters to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because I am not interested in being defined by what tried to destroy me. I\u2019m interested in the girl who refused to break. The one who bent, yes. The one who bled, yes. The one who doubted herself, grieved herself, rebuilt herself with shaking hands and a sharp mind and way too much emotional range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But still.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She did not break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chaos in one hand. Grace in the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And a girl who, against all odds and with excellent taste, refuses to become ruin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
