The World Didn\u2019t End<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Day 104 – March 7, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Something that keeps catching me off guard lately is how normal life can look after something not normal at all happens to you. That\u2019s one of the strangest parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not the violence itself. Not even the aftermath, exactly. The weird part is how the world just keeps going. Traffic still trafficing. Dogs still needing walked. People still arguing in grocery store parking lots like their marriage is being held together by one passive aggressive sigh and a reusable tote bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life stays embarrassingly committed to itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I stood in my kitchen this morning with coffee in my hand, sunlight slipping through the window like it hadn\u2019t heard a damn thing about the past year, and it hit me in that quiet, unnerving way truth sometimes does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world didn\u2019t end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mine felt like it did for a while. Or maybe not ended. Split. Distorted. Rewritten in a language I never asked to become fluent in. There was a stretch of time where everything felt colder. Less trustworthy. Less innocent. Like the whole atmosphere of existence had shifted and I was the only one walking around without the old map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That part was real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But so is this. The world kept moving. People still made coffee. Still took out trash. Still flirted badly. Still bought ugly throw pillows and fell in love with the wrong person and forgot to thaw the chicken and went to work and came home and scrolled and laughed and cried and kept being weird little humans in public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And somehow, unbelievably, I am still one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because when you are inside survival, everything feels dramatic. Every hour feels loaded. Every small act can feel like a negotiation between the body and the will. You think surely the whole universe must understand that something enormous has happened. But the universe, as it turns out, is not especially into theatrics unless it\u2019s weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life just keeps going. At first that felt cruel. Now it feels almost holy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because ordinary life is not shallow. It is not less meaningful because it does not arrive with a soundtrack and a revelation. Sometimes ordinary life is the most profound thing in the room. A cup of coffee. A walk. A dog doing something profoundly silly with complete sincerity. A day that asks almost nothing from you except that you stay inside it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is not nothing. That is the whole fight sometimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roger woke up this morning with his usual belief that breakfast is the most important event in modern civilization and any delay in its arrival is evidence of moral collapse. I admire that in him. There is something so pure about his commitment to the immediate. Hunger means hunger. Joy means joy. A sound in the hallway means a full investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And maybe that\u2019s part of what I\u2019m learning too. The world did not end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My relationship to it changed. My body changed. My instincts changed. My understanding of people changed. My tolerance for bullshit certainly changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the world itself?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It stayed exactly what it always was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beautiful in places. Cruel in places. Absurd nearly everywhere. Still worth looking at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That last part matters to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because I refuse to let what happened make the world smaller than it is. More dangerous, yes. More complicated, absolutely. But not smaller. Not flatter. Not emptied of beauty just because I now know how much ugliness can live beside it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both are true. That may be the real education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The light is still beautiful. The danger was still real. The coffee still tastes like coffee. The fear still happened. The dog still wants breakfast like it\u2019s a constitutional right. And I am still here in the middle of all of it, trying to live a life that is not defined by one kind of truth alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That feels real. Not healed. Not wrapped up. Not inspirational in a way that belongs on a beige background. Just real. And real, at this point, is more than enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chaos in one hand. Grace in the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the world continuing exactly as it always has while I learn how to belong to it again without lying to myself about what it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
