Grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because they sound pretty together, though they do. Not because they make a nice aesthetic or a good tagline or some tidy little personal philosophy people can print on mugs and call it self awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I keep coming back to them because they are real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And because I think most people spend their whole lives trying to separate what was never meant to be separated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They want grace without chaos. Beauty without mess. Healing without rage. Truth without disruption. Womanhood without contradiction. Softness without the parts that might bite back if mishandled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is not how any of this works. Not for me. Not for anyone honest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chaos is real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not just the loud kind. Not just the obvious disasters. Not just violence, upheaval, fear, legal nightmares, grief, and the ongoing insult of knowing a man who harmed me is still free while I am over here carrying all the emotional and bodily interest on his debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That chaos is real, yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But so is the quieter kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The emotional weather.vThe internal static. The contradiction of wanting beauty while still being furious. The way a day can hold laughter and heartbreak at the same time and not consider that poor planning. The weirdness of trying to build a life while still carrying pieces of one that were broken open against your will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is chaos too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And grace?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace is not the absence of any of that. Grace is how I hold it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That may be the most important thing I\u2019ve learned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace is not purity. Grace is not passivity. Grace is not becoming so polished and \u201chealed\u201d that no one can tell what it cost you to still be standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace is movement inside contradiction. Grace is the woman who still tells the truth. Grace is still wanting beautiful things when the world has shown you how ugly it can be. Grace is not going numb just because that would make you easier to explain. Grace is choosing not to become cruel in response to cruelty, even when cruelty has handed you every excuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace is not dropping yourself. That feels true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the real miracle in my life right now is not that chaos happened and somehow grace came later to replace it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s that both have been here the whole time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chaos in what happened to me. The grace in the fact that I kept writing. The chaos in my nervous system. The grace in the women who hold me correctly. The chaos in my anger. The grace in the fact that I know my anger is not the enemy. The chaos of being this hurt, this disappointed, this altered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The grace of still being funny anyway. Still being warm. Still being beautiful. Still being real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think that\u2019s why the pairing won\u2019t leave me alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because it\u2019s honest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Life is not one note. I am not one note. No real woman is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are weather systems. Contradictions. Gorgeous little catastrophes with excellent instincts and complicated histories. We are softness with evidence. We are tenderness and teeth. We are the kind of creatures who can host grief in one room, desire in another, and still somehow find the energy to make the sentence land right, the room look lovely, and the coffee worth drinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is not dysfunction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roger, naturally, is chaos and grace in the purest possible form. He can look like a mythological protector one second and then immediately trip over his own joy because the outside exists and he has strong feelings about it. He definitely has range. Respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe that\u2019s why I love him so much. He reminds me that dignity and absurdity are not enemies. That power and tenderness can coexist. That even the most loyal and loving creature in the room can still occasionally act like a complete idiot without losing any of his holiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I respect that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think I\u2019m learning to respect it in myself too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not despite the mess. With it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chaos in one hand.
